The Topform Story
Established a Factory
Topform was originally set up by a company called “Amhurst” in 1976 - a manufacturing company who established a factory in the Shannon Industrial Free Zone, manufacturing postformed laminate kitchen worktops
1976
Relocated
Topform relocated to its current site in Gort, and while it faced tough market conditions in the early days and throughout the recession of the early 80’s – it survived and a lot of changes were yet to come
1977
Company Evolved
A management buyout by Paul Glynn in 1996, brought about many changes. Modern manufacturing techniques and new equipment were introduced, and so too began the pursuit of offering the best laminate worktops in the world. Topform evolved from a laminate kitchen worktop manufacturer to what is now a “Creative Worktop Solutions Company”.
1996
Topform Celebrate 21st Birthday
Topform celebrated 21 years in business, with a very successful race day in conjunction with Gort Town Project which was held at the Galway racecourse in Ballybrit. Our building programme also started to take shape.
1997
25th Anniversary
Marked the 25th Anniversary of Topform. A themed “Silver Oscars” day was held with the Silver denoting the silver anniversary and the Oscars awarding all those who contributed to the success of Topform.
2001
Re-Branding of Logos – From Old to New
A refresh of the company to celebrate 30 years manufacturing kitchen worktops. A rebrand to bring Topform from old to new and into the 21st Century.
2006
Launched TopShape
2007 brought about the launch of TopShape, after many years of brainstorming, rigorous research & development and production programmes, it was finally time to launch TopShape, a pre-manufactured square edged, fully finished kitchen countertop to the marketplace. This became the fastest growing new product introduction in the history of Topform.
2007
Laminate Fights Back
In 2008 an initiative was launched that saw “Laminate Fight Back” against other competing worksurfaces such as granite. Laminate was sourced worldwide and new materials and designs were introduced that radically changed the look and feel of laminate based worktops, making them more attractive to customers.
2008
You Design…We Make – TopShape Custom Arrives
The TopShape Custom programme was developed in order to meet our customers’ requests for individual bespoke customised kitchen worktops in the TopShape range. Aptly named TopShape Custom, it’s continuing to grow from strength to strength.
2011
TopShape Arrives in the United Kingdom
Following the success of TopShape in the Irish market, management decide to launched the popular square edge kitchen worktop into the United Kingdom with a dedicated team based in England.
2012
Digital Launch
Topform launches our brand new and digitally optimized website. In this year, we also launch our new our new laminate kitchen worktop décors and range. Selected as a SFA finalist for the first time.
2014
Exporter of the Year and Expanding Management Team
After years of hard work, expanding into international markets, Topform win the Exporter of the Year in the SFA National Small Business Awards 2015. John Flannery joins the Topform team as Managing Director and Paul Glynn becomes Chairman
2015
Continued Success at SFA Awards
Topform are a repeat winner of Exporter of the Year but also win the biggest prize for a small business in Ireland. We win the Overall SFA National Small Business Award against a range of business from across multiple sectors and industries. It is the culmination of years of work by everyone associated with Topform.
2016
Major Investment in New CNC Machinery
Continuous investment is part of the Topform DNA. To continue to provide the best laminate kitchen worktops on the market, we invest in state of the art CNC machines. The machines allow us to create our TopShape Custom worktops and manufacture worktops for the mobile home market
2019
Awarded Business All Star Award
Received Business All Star accreditation that recognizes Best-in-Class Irish businesses. An independently assessed award that is based on performance, trust and customer centricity.
2020
Nominated for Multiple SFA Awards
Towards the end of the year, we are again selected for the Exporter of the Year at the SFA Awards. Along with this, we are selected for Manufacturer of the Year. This is a recognition of a concerted effort to create the most efficient manufacturing process possible.
2020
Largest Décor Makeover and Website Redesign
3 years of work culminates in the largest décor makeover in the history of the company. By adding 18 new décors and reorganizing our décor range, it is an exciting time in the kitchen worktop market. To coincide with the décor makeover, a full website redesign followed to bring a fresh look to our digital offering.

Topform Win National Small Business Award Again
Another successful year at Topform culminates in the winning of the Manufacturer of the Year and the National Small Business of the Year at the SFA Awards. The kitchen worktops company national recognition is a testament to the hard work of the team.
